This runner uses only two fabrics making it an easy project to select fabric for. High contrast is very important here. To get the stars to really show off, you need to use two different colors or a dark and a light in the same color family. You can interchange your dark and light fabrics between fabrics A and B, getting a different look each time. Quick cutting and piecing techniques puts this runner together in under an hour.
