BUTTERNUT & BLUE

BUTTERNUT & BLUE

Stitch historic quilts inspired by the palette of butternut (the home-dyed uniform of the South) and blue (symbol of the Union), the uniforms of the Civil War on the western borders. We've seen quilts of butternut & blue, possibly stitched of scraps left over from the War years. For the quilts in this book, our interpretations of a variety of mid-19th century quilts, Barbara Brackman & Karla Menaugh used artistic license. The Butternut and Blue fabric collection that Barbara Brackman & Terry Clothier Thompson designed for Moda is also colored with the modern quiltmakers' taste in mind. Butternut & Blue - Threads of the Civil War contains eight quilting projects as well as instructions for a Flag Sewing Kit. Includes Midnight Garden (40" x 50"), Western Sun (45.25" square), Basket in the Briars (85" square), Little Blue Basket (19" square), Sawtooth Square Table Runner (17" x 54"), Blind Man's Fancy (56" square), Road to Richmond (54" x 66") and Our Flag (15" x 19"). Designed by Karla Menaugh
