BARBARA FRITCHIE STAR

Using 10" blocks, this pattern includes two versions of the classic star pattern that honors Barbara Fritchie, whose poetic exploits inspired Union patriots: "Shoot if you must, this old gray head, but save your country's flag!". One version features an embroidered flag & a line of Longfellow's poetry in the border, while the other border has an applique eagle & flowers - adapted from an antique quilt.
