Redwork Patterns

Redwork first became popular in America during the 1800’s after coming here from Europe. Red floss is used to stitch over designs on white or crème colored fabric. These redwork designs can then be surrounded with fabric borders and made into a quilt or they can be framed.

Some redwork patterns are all about the redwork, with that being the entire project. And some patterns have redwork as just a part of the project, perhaps at the center of a star block.

Designs by Alene has an entire series of patterns revolving around “Me and Grandma”. The pair can be found quilting, baking, gardening, going to church, sewing, and more. “Me and Grandpa” can be found fishing, playing ball, camping and more. You can stitch a girl or boy in any of these. These finished projects would look great as a grouping hanging framed on a wall, and will generate lots of conversations about shared memories. Or make a quilt for you grandchild and he can snuggle under the memories.

Indygo Junction has a few Christmas patterns including a table runner and ornaments. Also from Indygo Junction are lap sized quilts that are suitable for wall hangings.
