Scrap Quilt Patterns
Sometimes a pattern for a scrap quilt just means that it looks scrappy. Using fat quarters, a collection of charm squares, a layer cake or a half yard bundle you can make a beautiful “scrap” quilt that looks as if you’ve been saving and sorting your scraps for a long while. Bento Box and Hearts Afire are perfect examples of these.
Adding additional fabric to your scraps is what pulls some scrap quilts together. The black background in Quilt As You Go Salt and Pepper really makes all the reds and red plaids stand out. Scrap Assassin uses one color for the sashing and borders to made a cohesive union of all the scrap squares. This patterns comes in three sizes.
With some patterns you can choose whether to use a main fabric or use your scraps to simulate a main fabric. It seems like we always have lots of white or beige or cream fabric scraps. Delightful Stars would look great either way – yardage of cream or a mixture of cream scraps. Same goes for the Friendship Star Lap Quilt.
